Stephen Campbell Twombly, 78, of Concord, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Concord, Vt. on March 22, 1940, a son of Elwin and Claire (Parker) Twombly. He was raised in St. Johnsbury, Vt. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1958.
Stephen served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Later he was employed by Peck hardware in St. Johnsbury and Goulet Supply in Concord for 23 years.
Steve was known to his family and friends as a kind and loving person who would always be the first to give a helping hand. Everywhere he went he made friends. He loved fishing, camping, reading and spending time outdoors with friends and family.
Steve was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Elwin "Phil" Twombly Jr. and Christopher Twombly.
He is survived by two daughters, Carrie Murray of Vermont and Brooke Blendowski and her husband, Eric of New Hampshire; and four grandchildren, Kyler and Adia Murray and Jackson and Miles Blendowski; three nephews, Kevin and Sean Twombly and Christopher "Kit" Costa, and many friends that he considered family.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 1 p.m., at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord. A committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord NH.
