Stanley W. Wilkins, age 79, of St. Johnsbury, Vt., passed away at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center on Saturday, March 24, 2018, in St. Johnsbury. Stanley was born in St. Johnsbury, on Sept. 18, 1938, son of George and Evelyn (Brooks) Wilkins. He attended St. Johnsbury schools, and graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School in 1957. Stanley had many jobs in his younger years including selling furniture and working in grocery stores. Stan started in 1965, working in automotive parts for Goldbergs Auto Service in St. Johnsbury and was made manager of the Littleton, N.H., store three years later. Sanel Auto Parts purchased the company and Stan stayed in management until he started his own business in 1990 selling tools and parts to garages and shops, doing business as "Stan Wilkins Automotive Products" for 14 years. Parkinsons disease was the reason he stopped working and fought the disease the rest of his life. Stan was on the St. Johnsbury Planning Commission for 28 years, and really loved the town of St. Johnsbury. He was a member of the Elks Club and enjoyed the Stowe Antique and Classic Car Show. In October of 2017, Stanley joined the Roman Catholic Church at St. John the Evangelist Church. Stan married Mary Carter Harris Aug. 4, 1973 and together raised their children. He was predeceased by his brothers: Robert, Kenneth, and Richard; and his sisters: Priscilla Barrett, Beverly Robinson, and Jane Donna. He is survived by his beloved wife: Mary Wilkins; his daughters: Deborah Daniels and husband, Brian, and Jacqueline Kenney and husband, Gary; his sons: Jeffrey Wilkins and partner, Marcia, and James Harris and wife, Lisa; seven grandchildren: Anthony Daniels, Catrina Daniels Blackburn, Adam Wilkins, Jacob Wilkins, Kasie Kenney Pilgrim, Jamie Kenney, and James Harris III; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at the St. John the Evangelist Church, corner of Winter and Main streets in St. Johnsbury. A reception will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Calex Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 570, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819, in Stan's memory.
