Stanley G. Wheeler, 75, formerly of Lyndonville, died May 9, 2014, of
respiratory complications in Port St. Lucie, Fla. A memorial service was held
May 15 at the Martin Funeral Home in Stuart, Fla.
Stan was born in Lyndonville on July 31, 1938, to Ida and Clayton Wheeler. He
attended Lyndon Center Campus School, graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade
School in 1956, and served in the U.S. Army from October 1962 through October 1965.
Stan married Sandra Boulrisse of Lyndonville and they had two children. He
worked at Vermont Tap and Die Company in Lyndonville in his early years and
then Palm Beach Woodworks after moving to Bradenton, Fla. in 1973. In
Bradenton, he was active in little league baseball and was president of the
Bradenton league for several years. Stan was also an avid sports enthusiast
who supported northeast professional teams even while living in Florida.
Stan's survivors include his wife Sandra of Florida, sons Jon of North Carolina
and Mark of Florida, and grandchildren Ryan, Dylan, Brooke, Brent, and Brynna.
Also, brothers Douglas, Durward and Eugene of Lyndonville, brother Clifford of
Florida, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his
parents, sister Norma, and brother Philip. Stan loved Vermont's Northeast Kingdom and
returned from Florida to visit relatives and friends whenever possible.
Interment will be in the family site at Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke, Vt.,
on Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. All interested are invited to attend the graveside service.
