East Thetford, VT - Robert J. "Frog" Fournier, 78, died Friday
July 24, 2015 at home in East Thetford.
He was born September 22, 1936 a son of Albert and Elizabeth
(Roy) Fournier in St. Johnsbury, VT. Robert graduated from St.
Johnsbury Academy before enlisting in the US Air Force where
he served in Thule, Greenland. He was married to Joan Berwick
in 1959 and they were later divorced. After returning from his
military service, Frog began working at Ralston Purina in St.
Johnsbury where he worked for almost 20 years until they
closed. He then began at ET & HK Ide where he worked until
retiring. Frog moved to East Thetford when he married Jill
McAllister, June 18, 1988 on Lake Spofford, NH, they have
made their home in East Thetford since.
Mr. Fournier was very active at St. Anthony's Church in White
River Jct. where he served in many church events. He enjoyed
fishing and hunting, especially rabbit hunting as well as
sugaring each spring, gardening and feeding the birds at home.
Frog was an avid New York Giants fan and also enjoyed
candlepin bowling, horseshoes and dancing at the VFW in White
River Jct. on Saturday nights.
He is survived by his wife, Jill, of East Thetford; a daughter
Susan E. Patten of North Haverhill, NH; two sons Robert P.
Fournier and Richard E. Fournier both of McIndoe Falls, VT; step
daughters Kimberly Gilleney of Rutland, MA, Dona Welch of
Bradford, VT and Tawnya Stark of Grantham, NH; a step son
Randy Hurlbert of Corinth, VT; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-
grandchildren; a brother Donald Fournier of Norco, CA, a
brother-in-law Raymond Garand of Norway, ME and several
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Frances Garand.
A funeral service will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in
White River Jct. on Wednesday at 1PM with burial following in
the cemetery next to Frog's house on Stevens Road in East Thetford.
