Robert M. Fontaine was born 06/01/1937 to Alphonse and Margery Fontaine in Hartford Conn. He passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and children at his side on 01/30/2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald, Eugene, John and Rene and sister Joan (Griffin). He was a graduate of St. Johnsberry Academy and Pepperdine University. He served four years in the United States Navy. He moved to California in 1960 and worked for over 30 years at General Dynamics until he retired as a manager, Program Administrator, International Division. After his retirement he worked as a substitute teacher for the Alta Loma School District for the next nine years. He met the love of his life and best friend Joy of over 50 years and they were married on August 25, 1962 at San Gabriel Mission. He is survived by his wife Joy, children Sue (Eric) Labounty, Larry (Delia) Fontaine, Bob (Kristin) Fontaine and Kathy Fontaine. Grandchildren Michael and Grant Labounty, Haylee and Lexee Fonatine and Isabella Fontaine. He is also survived by his sisters Peggy Lindsey, Ann (Don) Larivee and Ruth Digatti, and many nephews and nieces, especially Donald (Kim) Fontaine. In retirement his hobbies were working in his garage, crosswords, reading and watching T.V. His home really was his castle, whether it was his motorhome, his mobile in the desert or Darlington Ave. Bob loved his family especially his grandchildren, who always lit up his life. He loved traveling and visiting many foreign countries. He also loved camping at Carpinteria State Beach, especially the 4th of July and will always be remembered as Campmaster Bob. He and Joy also loved the winters in their trailer in the desert, and was the token American there among all the Canadian snowbirds. Through the years he touched the lives of so many people and will be sorely missed. He finally lost his battle with MDS, but gave it a valiant fight. Bob, Dad, Daddy, Papa, Grandpa Bob, Campmaster Bob you will be sorely missed, but our loss will be heavens gain. Our solace is that God our father is waiting with open arms to welcome you home.
