Robert E. "Bob" Crepeault, 77, of St. Johnsbury, died peacefully in the comfort of his home, Friday morning,
March 21, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 4, 1936, in St. Johnsbury the son of
Phillip and Hazel (Champany) Crepeault. Bob graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1955.
Following high school he served his country in the U.S. Army. On May 22, 1971, he married Sandra Barrett.
Bob worked for Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury for 39 years. He also operated his own moving company,
Bob Crepeault Mover (The Little Mover) for over thirty years moving households, businesses and products
near and far. During his retirement, he worked for the Caledonia County
Sheriff's Department for seven years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 58 of St. Johnsbury and the
Union Baptist Church congregation. Favorite pastimes included fishing, local and NASCAR racing and antique cars.
Bob was a caring and loving husband and father. He enjoyed people. He is remembered as having a great sense of humor and he always had something
funny to share. Survivors include his wife Sandra of St. Johnsbury; their son, Todd of St.
Johnsbury; two sisters, Doris Stetson of St. Johnsbury and Bernice Ash and her
husband Melvin of St. Johnsbury; his father and mother in-law, Kenneth and
Helen Barrett of Sutton; sisters- and brothers in-law, Sarah Keafer and her
husband Dwight of Danville, Stephen Barrett and his wife Annette of Sutton,
Dianna Simpson and her husband Tim of Sutton, Ginny Barrett of Lyndonville,
Mark Barrett and his wife Karla of Sutton, and Douglas Barrett and Linda Morel
Ward of Sutton; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Other survivors include Skip Irwin and his wife Robin of Groton, whom Bob
thought of as a son; dear friends, Ron Hooker and his wife Claire of St.
Johnsbury; John Wunder and Sue Noyes of Concord, NH; his UBC family; and many friends and neighbors.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Francis Crepeault; his brother
in-law, Dr. John Stetson; and a niece and nephew, Kathy and Keith Ash.
Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Thursday, May 22,
at 10 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Waterford, Vt., with the Rev. Paul Powers officiating.
Friends may meet with the family Saturday, March 29, from 1-4 p.m. at the
Union Baptist Church located on Route 5 south of St. Johnsbury.
Donations made in his memory may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
Bob's family would like to thank those who have thought and prayed for them
and for the cards, visits, phone calls, food and other acts of kindness given.
Also, they would like to thank the staff at Norris Cotton Cancer Center North,
the Veterans Hospital and Clinic, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, NVRH,
and Caledonia Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care given to Bob.
