Robert Alcide Carreau, of Mt. Pleasant St. in St. Johnsbury, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015,
at the age of 82. He had resided at The Pines in Lyndonville since April of last year.
Bob was born in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 18, 1932, the son of Alcide and Marie Rose (Marois) Carreau. He
married Simone Nicole on May 12, 1962. In 1950 he graduated from St. J. Trade School, joined
the Air Force shortly thereafter and served for four years. He worked as an automobile salesman a
combined 37 years at Raymond B. Hoar Volkswagen, Wayne Ford, and Maple Center Motors.
Bob coached Little League baseball for 15 years. After retiring Bob worked part-
time at The Elks Club for 16 years. He enjoyed playing cribbage with friends at
The Elks and looked forward to the yearly statewide tournaments. He played in
Recreation Dept. division I volleyball and played on a softball team with friends
for several years. His most enjoyable times were spent at his hunting camp on
Paul Stream with his son Gary and many close friends who would gather for Deer Season.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Simone; daughter Michelle Descoteaux of
Gilmanton, N.H. and her husband, Keith; son Gary Carreau of Plaistow, N.H.;
two grandchildren Nicole and Dakota; one great grandchild Nevaeh; one sister
Lorette Desrochers; Simone's brother Jules Nicole and his wife Helene, Simone's
sister Theresa Rivard and her husband Norman; brother-in-law James Twiss,
many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Paul Carreau, two
sisters Claire Twiss and Anita Warburton, and his former son-in-law James
Parker. Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this Friday, Feb. 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
At 7:45 p.m. the Elks will assemble for their memorial tribute.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church this Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m.
Burial with military honors will be held in May at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
