Richard L. Couture, 73, of Danville, died Thursday morning April 4, 2013, at
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born Nov. 8, 1939 in Falls River, Mass., the son of Gaston and Anna (Raposa) Couture.
Richard was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Trade School.
On January 16, 1965, he married Alice Laurencelle. They made their home in Danville where
they worked together with their son on their dairy farm. Besides farming, Richard worked as a
machinist for North East Tool Company in Lyndonville for 25 years.
A devoted husband and father, Richard always found time to help friends, neighbors and
anyone who was in need. He enjoyed attending farm auctions, golfing at the St. Johnsbury
Country Club and visiting with friends and family.
Survivors include his son, Lawrence "Larry" Couture and his companion Cheryl Read of
Danville; three sisters, Lorraine Day and husband Ben of Northfield, Bea Couture of Wisconsin
and Doris Couture of Danville; two brothers-in-law, Paul Laurencelle of Burlington and Marc
Laurencelle of Brownington; four nieces and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Alice in 2004.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Johnsbury on Tuesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at
St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. Fr. Luke Austin celebrant.
Friends may call on the family Monday evening April 8, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Spring
burial is planned for Tuesday May 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury.
