GOODWIN: Reginald L. , 65, of Sheffield, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002,
at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was
born March 12, 1937, in Sutton, the son of the late Leo D. and Ardell
M. (Powers) Goodwin. Reg graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade
School in 1955 and then entered the National Guard, serving three
years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until 1963. On
Dec. 27, 1958, he married Diana Willey. Reg was dedicated to the
town of Sutton, where he was the road commissioner for over 30
years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the National Rifle
Association. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, feeding and watching
wild birds, and his favorite tree, the mountain ash. Most of all, he
enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his
wife of 43 years, Diana W. Goodwin of Sheffield; his daughter, Pamela
Norrie of Sheffield; two sons, Daniel Goodwin of Sheffield, and
Douglas Goodwin and wife Jackie of Lyndonville; six grandchildren;
his sister, Beverly Cox and husband Maynard of Baltimore, Vt.; two
brothers, Dale Goodwin of Sutton, and Neil Goodwin and wife Sandra
of Troy, N.H.; two sisters-in-law, Edith Wells of St. Johnsbury Center,
and Rose Garand of St. Johnsbury; many nieces and nephews; and his
close friend, Clarence Ash of Sheffield. He was predeceased by two
sisters, Geraldine Gosley and Pauline Gleason; a brother, Donald
Goodwin; and his sister-in-law, Irene Chayer, just one week ago. A
graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, June 28 at 11 a.m.
at the Sutton Village Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Pittman
officiating. There will be no visiting hours.
