Neil Allen Hunter, age 79, of Warrenton, Virgina, passed on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at Fauquier Hospital. He was born on Oct. 15, 1938, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, son of the late Donald and Avis Hunter. Neil is a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy and Dracut High School where he played trumpet in the band. He also played baseball and basketball in high school and later at Wentworth University in Boston, Mass., where he earned an Associate degree. Neil is survived by his two sons: Eric N. Hunter and his wife, Annette of Columbia, Md., and Adam D. Hunter and his wife, Vicki of Prospect, Tenn.; two siblings: Joanne G. Hunter of Warrenton, Va., and Earl W. Hunter and his wife, Faye of Willow Springs, N.C.; seven grandchildren: Ashley Stevenson, Austin White, Zachary Hunter, Maura, Jessica and Joshua Hunter and Corey Conway; and one great-grandchild, Aspen Stevenson. In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by his wife, Betty G. Hunter. Friends may call at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton, VA from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment at Warrenton cemetery.
