Marilyn Gochie, 79, of Lyndonville, died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009,
at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon. She was
born Nov. 8, 1930, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Lynn and Helen
(Merriam) Newell. On July 2, 1950, she married Roland Gochie. Marilyn
worked at the VFW Post 10038 in Lyndonville as a bartender for many
years. She was also a life member of their Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a
member of the American Legion Post 30 Auxiliary. She liked hunting,
fishing, playing Bingo, camping and attending family functions. She
especially enjoyed following her grandson's auto racing events, Stevie
Parker in the "09" strictly stock at WMMP in Woodstock, N.H. Survivors
include her eight children, Deborah Switser and husband Stan of
Lyndonville, Peggie Parker and husband Steven of Lyndonville, Roland
"Joe" Gochie and wife Joanne of Goosecreek, S.C., Jerry Gochie and
fiancée Stella Gagnon of Lyndonville, Dianne Gochie of Cambridge, Vt.,
Holly Rowe and husband Tye of St. Johnsbury, Dwayne Gochie and wife
Linda of Kirby, and Theodore "Ted" Gochie; two stepsons, James and
Daniel Gochie of Concord; 44 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Meredith Mitchell and husband Mac of Lyndonville, and Judith
Despins and husband Richard of Danville; a brother in-law, Everett
Chamberlin of Barnet; and several nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her husband Roland in 1979; her parents; two sisters,
Jean Chamberlin and Jerolyn Newell; and a sister in-law, Elva Richardson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Guibord Funeral
Home. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the start of the
service, beginning at 1 p.m. Spring burial will be in Lyndon Center
Cemetery. Donations made in Marilyn's memory may be directed to Lyndon
