Lloyd E. Wheeler, 76, of Dogwood Lane, Loudonville, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he was the son of the late Dorothy E. Muhlig and Horace C. Wheeler. As a teenager he moved to St. Johnsbury, Vt., graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1955 and from Becker College in Worchester, Mass. in 1957. Lloyd worked for F.W.Woolworth as a store manager from 1960 to 1971 and then he worked as the Northeast Regional Trainer for the Nestle Company until his retirement. He was an eight-year member of the Vermont Army National Guard. He was raised as a Master Mason at the Washburn Lodge #92 in Danville, Vt., and has continued his more than 50 year membership with the Albany Guttenberg Lodge #737. He was a member of the Newtonville Methodist Church in Newtonville. Lloyd was known as a devoted and loving husband, family man and as a gentleman by all who knew him. He enjoyed family activities and was always loving and supportive of his granddaughter's. He also loved playing the piano, skiing, swimming, boating and reading financial periodicals. Lloyd was the husband (over 50 years) of Laurie S. Wheeler; father of Scott Lloyd Wheeler of Colonie, N.Y., and Lynn Mari Romania of Loudonville; father-in-law of Rudi C. Romania; grandfather of Grace, Brooke, Laura and Claire Romania; and brother of Wallace Wheeler of Castleton, N.Y., and the late Shirley Wheeler. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Merrie Ellen Dyer, a niece and three nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Newtonville Methodist Church, 568 Loudon Rd., Newtonville, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave. Colonie, N.Y., on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Newtonville Methodist Church, PO Box 7, Newtonville, NY 12128 or the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 would be appreciated.
