PORTLAND/HOLLIS - Leona A. Thurston Bombard, age 78, passed
away peacefully on March 7, 2012, at her daughter's home in Hollis.
Leona was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, on May 28, 1933.
She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1951.
Her dream was to live close to the ocean. So shortly after graduation
she moved to Portland, Maine. She graduated from The Golden School
of Beauty and became a well known hair stylist in the Portland Area.
In 1953 she married Earl Bombard. Earl passed away in 1995.
Lea, as her family and friends called her, all knew her as a loving,
nurturing mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her daughter- Judy Anderson and son-in-law Andrew
Anderson of Hollis; son- William Bombard and daughter-in-law Nancy
Bombard of Westbrook; brother- Frank Thurston of New Hampshire;
sister- Mary Easter of Rhode Island and five grandchildren- Rebecca
Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Sarah Lister, Amanda Bombard, and
William Bombard Jr. Leona is predeceased by a brother- Robert Thurston.
Per her wishes there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. A private
burial will take place at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland, Maine.
