Larry D. Willson , 67, of Waterford, died Sunday Dec. 28, 2008, at
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following
complications of kidney disease after living courageously with the
disease for more than 20 years. He was born March 15, 1941, in
Waterford, the son of Dean and Eula (Hall) Willson. In 1959 he
graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School. On June 27, 1964, he
married Dorothy Mathews. They purchased and operated a dairy
farm "Willson Acres" in Waterford. Even with Larry's illness, he was
able to give instructions on what work needed to be done, and the
farm is still being operated by his family. Farming was Larry's life. He
enjoyed working the land, taking care of his herd of Holstein cattle,
custom corn planting for many area farmers, and, come spring, he
enjoyed maple sugaring. He was always willing to help friends,
neighbors, or anyone else who needed help. He also enjoyed deer and
raccoon hunting. He loved his family, attending family reunions, and
was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. He was a
member of the Holstein Association, a trustee for the Dairy Herd
Improvement Assoc., Farm Bureau, NEK Chamber of Commerce, and
a former member of the Waterford Ridge Runners snowmobile club.
