Larry D. Willson , 67, of Waterford, died Sunday Dec. 28, 2008, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following complications of kidney disease after living courageously with the disease for more than 20 years. He was born March 15, 1941, in Waterford, the son of Dean and Eula (Hall) Willson. In 1959 he graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School. On June 27, 1964, he married Dorothy Mathews. Even with Larry's illness, he was able to give instructions on what work needed to be done, and the farm is still being operated by his family. Farming was Larry's life. He enjoyed working the land, taking care of his herd of Holstein cattle, custom corn planting for many area farmers, and, come spring, he enjoyed maple sugaring. He was always willing to help friends, neighbors, or anyone else who needed help. He also enjoyed deer and raccoon hunting. He loved his family, attending family reunions, and was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. He was a member of the Holstein Association, a trustee for the Dairy Herd Improvement Assoc., Farm Bureau, NEK Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the Waterford Ridge Runners snowmobile club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Willson of Waterford; three children, Roger Willson and wife Susan of Wilmington, Mass., Laura Remick and husband Howard of Waterford, and Angela Willson of Waterford; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jessica Remick, and Julia and Ryan Willson; two sisters, Dorothy Dodge and husband Fred of Haverhill, N.H., and Linda Cushing and husband George of Waterford; his uncle, Bruce Willson of Irasburg; his mother-in-law, Barbara Mathews of Waterford; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Denio and husband Bruce of Barnet; a brother-in-law, Stanley Mathews and wife Vicki of Monroe, N.H.; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Darrell Mathews and wife Cheryl of Waterford and their son Dalton who called Larry "Grampa."
