Joyce I. Root, of Duck Pond Road in Waterford, passed away unexpectedly
Sunday morning, Oct. 12, 2014, at the age of 81.
Joyce was born in Barnet, Vt., on Nov. 29, 1932, the daughter of Francis and
Irene (Stuart) Nutter. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1952.
Joyce and Bob operated the former Four Seasons Florist located on Eastern
Avenue in St. Johnsbury as well as their greenhouse on Duck Pond Road.
She is survived by Bob, her husband of 62 years; two children: Debbie Hazen
and husband Bruce of Waterford, Rodney Root and wife Cathy of Florida; four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lillian Willey of
Waterford and Shirley Belmore of Waterford; brother, Herbert Nutter and his
wife Martha of Waterford; nieces and nephews; Bob's two sisters, Betty
O'Rourke and Gloria Randall; and his brother Glen Root, and the extended Root family.
The family will observe their services privately. There will be no visiting hours.
