N. James (Jock) Clark , 68, of Horn of the Moon Road, East Montpelier, Vt.,
died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Central Vermont Medical Center after a
long illness. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Jan. 30, 1938, the son of
the late Archie and Emma Clark. James graduated from St. Johnsbury
Academy in 1956 and attended Norwich University, UVM and St. Francis of
New York College in pursuit of his studies. He also served as a member of
the National Guard for six years. He married Judith (Judy) Shank of
Frenchtown, Pa., on Oct. 16, 1971. He was employed for many years as a
foreman with both Lane Construction Company and APAC, a division of
Ashland Oil. He retired in 1999. "Jock" was an outstanding athlete
throughout his school years and an avid fan of all sports. He spent many
hours of leisure time reading and volunteered hours of services to both the
Central Vermont Humane Society and the Central Vermont Adult Basic
Education program. He was a long time member of the St. Johnsbury Elks.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 35 years, Judith (Judy) Shank Clark,
include many cousins, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. There are no
calling hours. A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be
held at the St. Johnsbury Elks Club on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at 1 p.m. A
burial will be held at a later date at Clarkside Cemetery in Pembroke,
Maine. Arrangements are being handled by Guare & Sons Funeral Home,
30 School St., Montpelier, Vt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
