UTLEY: Gloria Goodwin , 70, of East St. Johnsbury, passed away
Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at her residence. She was born Jan. 25, 1933, in
Kirby, the daughter of George W. and Phoebe E. Quinby Goodwin. She
graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1951. She was very
active in the community and Holiday Meals program. She had been
the postmaster of the East St. Johnsbury Post Office for 22 years. She
and her late husband also operated the retail grocery business at
Goodwin's General Store since 1978. She was predeceased by her
husband, Glendon W. Utley, April 20, 2003. She is survived by three
children and their spouses, Michael and Sandra Utley of Carver, Mass.,
Carmen and Bob Alberghini of Carver, Mass., and Kenrick and Bobbi
Utley of West Burke; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her
mother, Phoebe Goodwin of Barnet; a sister, Beverly and husband
Leigh Larocque of Passumpsic; a brother, Bill Goodwin of North
Haven, Conn.; and several nieces, nephews and aunts. There will be
no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at the Danville Green
Cemetery in Danville, Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Gary
Ely officiating. Those who wish may send contributions in her
