Gloria Dubois, 80, of St. Johnsbury died Saturday evening Aug. 2, 2014, at the
Canterbury Inn in St. Johnsbury.
She was born March 15, 1934, in St. Johnsbury the daughter of Arthur and
Lucienne (Giroux) Dubois. In 1952 she graduated from Mount St. Joseph
Academy in St. Johnsbury.
Following high school Gloria began a 20-year career with the Ralston Purina Co.
in St. Johnsbury as a secretary and was the last employee to leave when the
plant relocated. Later she worked in area doctor's offices as a secretary until her retirement.
Gloria was a kind and gentle person. She volunteered at Northeastern Vermont
Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury for many years and was well known in the
health care community. She was fond of going on group tours throughout the
United States. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Cecile Merchant and husband Joseph of South
Portland, Maine, and their children, Laura Bilodeau and Peter Merchant; her
brother, Paul Dubois and wife Sharon of New Castle, N.H., and his children,
Chris Dubois and Demi Dubois, who was Gloria's God child; seven grandnieces
and nephews; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. at
St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury with the Rev. Fr. Christopher
Micale celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may meet with the family prior to the start of the service at Sayles
Funeral Home beginning at 10 a.m.
