Franklin J. Wheelock, 72, passed away on Feb. 7, 2005, at his home in
Hampton, Va. He was born on Jan. 26, 1933, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., the
youngest child of 10 children. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary
Ellen Sherrer, in 1952 and together they raised a family of five children. In
1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for 27 years before
retiring in 1979 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He also worked at
Newport News Shipbuilding as a Logistics Engineer, retiring after 15 years
of service.
