Elna H. (Houghton) Russell, 80. of St. Johnsbury Center, Vt., passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, in her home surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Cabot, Vt., on April 2, 1934, daughter of the late Elliot Carroll Houghton and Mable Katherine (Smith) Houghton she had lived in St. Johnsbury Center, Vt., for the past 45 years. She was a past member of the Third Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury Center. She was an avid bowler and member of a women's bowling league. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Caswell. She leaves three sons: Daniel H. Russell and his wife Doris D. Russell, Shawn C. Russell and his wife Patricia Russell, and Kelly G. Russell and his partner Laurie Bonnett; six grandchildren: Jason Russell, Megan (Russell) Cross, Katherine Russell, Jessica Russell, Jacob Russell and Kyle Edwards; five great-great- grandchildren: Lola Russell, Ethan Cross, Holly Marie Cross, Ryan Edwards and Brandon Edwards; and many nieces, nephews and a community of friends. She was predeceased by her husband Curtis Russell and son Vernon Russell and three brothers and two sisters. A service will be held at the Third Congregational Church on July 31, 2014, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Village Cemetery in Cabot, Vt.
