Dorothy (Garfield) Knox, 82, of Terryville, CT, widow of James Knox, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Farmington Station, Farmington, CT.
Born on August 3, 1937 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Dorothy was the third of five children born to the late Florence (Robie) and Edson Garfield. She is survived by her daughters Karen Balazy and her fiancé John Supranovich of Burlington, Terry Choquette and her partner Rick Gonneville of Bristol, and her son Heath Ash and his wife Noreen of Barnes Corners, NY. Her grandchildren Bryan, Kalie, Kelsey, Aimee, Brennan, Evyn and great grandson, Carson.
Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Edson Garfield Jr and sister Ruth Richards. She leaves her sisters Pauline OBrien and Margo Birchard and her lifelong friend, Buehla McGuinness.
Dorothy was an alumni of St Johnsbury Academy in St Johnsbury, VT. She was the owner of Verns Package Store in Terryville and spent many years as a member of High Riders Snowmobile Club. She spent hours on her CB radio under the handle Khalua and enjoyed bowling with her girlfriends on Friday nights.
In 1995, Dorothy and her husband James, moved to Tennessee where they spent 20 years before moving back to Connecticut to be closer to family.
