Clinton Dale Newland Jr., 74, of Park Street in Eliot, Maine, died on June 5, 2014 at his home
with loved ones by his side. Born and raised in Lyndon, Vt., on Aug. 1, 1939
he was the son of the late Clinton D. and Ada (Easterbrooks) Newland.
He was graduate of St. Johnsbury Trade School and attended Lyndon State College. After a
stint in the Navy, he worked as a machinist at Tap and Die in Lyndonville, Vt. Clint later
settled in the seacoast area and worked many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
After retiring he worked locally at the Eliot Meat Market, Village Pizza, Foreign Auto
and drove a school bus for district #35. Nicknamed Peanut, Clint enjoyed hunting, fishing,
gardening and cards with the family. He had a special love for kids and enjoyed coaching and being
involved with athletics. He met and married his loving wife Pamela (Weatherstone) Newland and
together they have made a home and raised a family in Eliot.
He is survived by his wife and children Cynthia White and husband Daniel of
Peacham, Vt.; Dale and Carrie Newland of Barton, Vt.; Jennifer Bubier and
husband Ernie of South Berwick, Maine.; and Jonathan Newland of Saco, Maine.
He has five grandchildren, Jordan and Jared White; Eric, Abigail, and Cody
Bubier and one great grandchild, Wade White. His siblings are Winston and
Loraine Newland of West Burke, Vt.; Maelene and Bryant Watson of West
Danville, Vt.; Layton and Wendy Newland of East Burke, Vt.; and Denton and Debby of East Burke, Vt.
He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Camber, brother Milton Newland and his daughter Roberta Newland. )
A family memorial service will be held at the graveside in East Burke, Vt. on the
21st of June at 11 a.m., at Woodmont Cemetery. If desired, donations may be
