Vilma McKee Bijolle died in her home in Lakeland, Fla., on March
15, 2012, after a long battle with lymphoma. She was 82 years old.
Vilma was born and raised in St. Johnsbury, along with her sister
Elsie Finney. She attended St.Johnsbury Academy and Marietta
College in Ohio before moving to Nevada for many years. She
returned to Vermont in 1980 after marrying Peter Bijolle, also of
St. Johnsbury. Vilma and Peter lived in Rutland for several years
where Vilma taught school at Pittsford Elementary in Pittsford, Vt.
The couple moved to Florida after retiring in 1994.
Mikki is survived by her husband, Peter; daughters: Ellen
Townsend, Brenda Yeager and Cheryl Fanning; sons: David and
Michael Bijolle; sister: Elsie Finney; grandchildren: Nathan Bijolle,
Ryan Bijolle, Jarryd Fanning and Lauren Yeager; nephews: Craig
and Eric Dezell; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held in
Lakeland, Fla., on March 24. Donations in her memory may be
sent to the American Cancer Society.
