Theresa F. (Fournier) Mudgett, age 83, died on Oct. 24, 2009, at
the Norwell Knoll Nursing Home in Norwell, Mass., after a brief illness.
She was the devoted wife of Guilford Mudgett and the beloved
mother of Michele and Kathryn Mudgett of Norwell, Mass., and
Timothy Mudgett of Marlborough, Mass. She was born in St.
Johnsbury, Vt., on Feb. 3, 1926, and was the daughter of the late
Alphonse and Sarah (Raiche) Fournier. She was raised in St.
Johnsbury and was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in St. Johnsbury.
After her marriage in 1953, she moved to Hyannis, Mass. After
her children were grown, she worked for several years as a clerk
in the tax collector's office in Hyannis.
Mrs. Mudgett had a special interest in the arts. She enjoyed music
and taught herself to play the piano. She also enjoyed sewing and
crocheting. She taught herself to paint and designed her own ceramic art.
In addition to her children, she is survived by a brother, Julien
Fournier of Littleton, N.H.; several sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will take place at St. John the Evangelist
Church in St. Johnsbury on Nov. 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. Donations in
her memory may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul,
18 Canton St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
