Ronald H. Laliberte , 81, of Lyndonville and formerly of St.
Johnsbury, died Sunday morning, April 26, 2009, at St. Johnsbury
Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 2, 1927, in St.
Johnsbury, the son of the late Henry and Marie (Castonguay)
Laliberte. Ronald graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. He
served in the army during the WWII occupation of Europe. He
returned to school to study accounting. On Aug. 16, 1948, he
married Aline Lacroix; they lived in Boston where they began their
family, moving to St. Johnsbury in 1966. An employee of the State
of Vermont, Ronald worked as an auditor and accountant for 20
years. Ron was a member of the Elks Lodge #1343 of St.
Johnsbury and was a past exulted ruler. He also was a life
member of the American Legion Post 58 of St. Johnsbury. While
in Boston he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ron
enjoyed family time spent at their camp on Island Pond. Survivors
include his wife of 60 years, Aline Laliberte of Lyndonville; two
children, Christine Oakes and husband Alex of Passumpsic, Mark
Laliberte and wife Susan of West Charleston; seven
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leopold
Laliberte and wife Ann of Florida; two brothers in-law: John
Lacroix and wife Agnes of Nashua, N.H., Gustave Lacroix and
wife Elaine of Maryland; nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated in St. Johnsbury Wednesday, April 29, at
11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. Johnsbury. Fr.
Jon Schnobrich will be the officiant. Burial will follow at Mount
Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. Memorial
contributions may be directed to National Shrine of St. Jude, 205
West Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606. Cards could be sent to the
