Roland Wayne Letourneau , a St. Johnsbury resident, passed
away Thursday, July 30, 2009, at The Pines Health & Rehab.
Center. He was 79. The son of Arthur W and Clara M. (Hallett)
Letourneau, he was born Dec. 2, 1929, in St. Johnsbury. He
served in the U S Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married
Mary Ellen Kenney July 4, 1955 in St. Johnsbury. Roland was a
member of St. John's Church, serving on the Parish Counsel, was
a Knight of Columbus, he coronated adoration for many years. He
enjoyed the Navy reunions, hunting and hunting camp with his
buddies, woodworking, boy scouts, the camp on Miles Pond, he
was especially proud of his wife and family, as well as reinstating
the Trade School Alumni Reunions after several missed years
and then turning the records over to the St. Johnsbury Academy
to be maintained. Roland is survived by his loving wife of 54
years, Mary of St. Johnsbury; his four children and their spouses,
Wayne (and Allison) Letourneau of Burlington, Tina (and Francis)
Drake of Lebanon, N.H., Patricia (and David) Henderson of Essex
Junction, Pamela (and Derrick) Fallon of Randolph; brother Lowell
Letourneau of Burlington; brothers-in-law, Freddy (and Gloria)
Kenney, Floyd Kenney, Stephen (and Nancy) Burgess;
sisters-in-law, Marie (and Alan) Letourneau of Barton, Helen K.
Bedor of Lyndonville; grandchildren, Benjamin Letourneau and
fiancee Caitlin of N. Andover, Mass., Brian Letourneau and
partner Katrina of Plant City, Fla., Casey, Sean, and Christina
Drake of Lebanon, N.H., Chelsea and Jared Henderson of Essex
Junction, Colin and Ian Fallon of Randolph, Neb.; and several
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents,
brothers, Alan and twin Russell, mother-in-law, Catherine T.
Burgess, sisters-in-law, Gloria (Lowell) Letourneau and Hilda K.
Daigle. Visiting hours will be Sunday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., at
Pearsons Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated Monday, Aug. 3, 11 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist
Catholic Church, with Rev. Patrick Forman, celebrant. Interment
with Military Honors will follow at St. Johnsbury Center Cemetery.
