Roland T. Heath Sr., age 91, of Tampico Road, passed away in
his sleep at home in North Danville early Thursday morning, Jan. 26, 2017.
Roland was born in Groton, Vt., May 5, 1925, son to the late
Burns F. and Hazel (Tellier) Heath. He grew up in Groton and
North Danville and graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School
in the Class of 1943. On Oct. 20, 1946, he married the former
Betty W. Locke and shared 66 years together at the time of her
passing on Dec. 16, 2012. They made their home in Goss
Hollow for many years and said the "Best times of his life" were
there. In 1964 they moved to North Danville and bought the Tip
Top farm which would be home for most the rest of their lives.
In his early years he enjoyed, and had time for, hunting and
fishing, but for years loved taking back road Sunday drives. He
was a member of and Deacon at the North Danville Baptist
Church for many, many years, and for his years of service was
named an Honorary Deacon. Roland also served the community
as Selectman in Danville for years which he truly enjoyed.
He is survived by his four children: Judy Parker and husband,
Michael, Joan Legendre and husband, Rodger, Roland Heath Jr.
and wife, Shonna, all of North Danville, and Cheryl Heath of
Danville; 12 grandchildren: Michelle, Traci, Jim, Jennifer,
Tammi, Jennifer, Teddy, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Melissa, Megan and
Ryan; his sister: Marcia Rose of Rutland, Vt.; a brother: Darwin
Heath and wife, Muriel, of Lyndonville; and many great-
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his very
special four-legged friend, Miss Daisy.
He was also predeceased by his brother: Don Heath and grandson: John Parker.
Friends may call on the family from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening
Jan. 27 at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer St. in St. Johnsbury.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 at
the North Danville Baptist Church on Bruce Badger Memorial
Hwy, with the Rev. Robert Sargent officiating. Burial will take
place in the springtime on Saturday, May 27, at the Drew-
Kelsey Cemetery in North Danville.
