GUYER: Robert V. , 75, passed away suddenly, Saturday, July 26, 2003.
He was a longtime St. Johnsbury resident of 111 Railroad St., and summer
resident at Joe's Pond. He was born in St. Johnsbury, July 7, 1928, the son
of Adelard "Delora" and Irene (Couture) Guyer. His father died in 1981, and
his mother in 1983. In the aftermath of World War II, he served in the Navy
for four years, 1945-1949. He came back to St. Johnsbury and worked in
the drafting department at Fairbanks Morse. Bob had two main careers in
his life: he retired from EHV-Weidmann as a production supervisor; and
previously he had been a drainage foreman for Laperle Construction. The
family camp on Joe's Pond was a longtime source of pleasure for Bob as it
was for his parents. There he developed a passion for the restoration of old
boats, the building of new ones and the restoration of antique outboard
motors. He was also a longtime photography enthusiast. He is survived by
a sister, Lucille Routhier and husband George of Laconia, N.H.; a nephew,
Marc Routhier and wife Riitta of Frostburg, Md.; two nieces, Denise Finn
and husband Dennis of Kittery, Maine, and Lisa Routhier of Los Angeles
Calif.; a close cousin, Raymond Poliquin of Woodsville, N.H.; and other
cousins. He was also predeceased by a nephew, Martin Routhier in 1998.
Funeral services will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 29
at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert H. Sargent officiating. Committal with
military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home Tuesday from 1 p.m. to the start of the service. Memorial
contributions may be directed to the Danville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 255,
Danville, VT 05828.
