Reginald "Reg" Bennett , age 85, of Lyndonville, passed away Tuesday,
July 21, 2009, at his residence. The son of Earl R. and Gladys (Brown)
Bennett. He was born May 17, 1924, in Newport. He served in the U S
Army during WWII in Africa, Italy and Sicily. He was a member of the
Lyndonville United Methodist Church where he met and later married his
sweetheart Phyllis N. Garfield, November 4, 1945. Reg enjoyed fishing,
golfing, gardening, woodworking, camping and canoeing and spending time
with his family. He would ski with his children, he volunteered at the Lyndon
Town School updating medical records. Reg is survived by his wife, Phyllis
of Lyndonville; daughters, Nadine McCue and husband David of Sutton,
Marcia Bennett of Lyndonville, and Joyce Valley and husband Mark of
Sheffield; grandchildren, Lisa Viljanen, Nathan McCue, Ryan McCue, Lori
Preiss, William Valley, Heather Valley, Abigail Lynch and their spouses; 10
great-grandchildren; a brother Ronald Bennett of St. Johnsbury. He was
predeceased by his parents, a step-mother, Clara, and daughter Diane
Lynch. A memorial service will be Saturday, July 25, 11 a.m., at the
Lyndonville United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara A. Dwyer,
officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Reg's name to the
