Priscilla H. (Wilkins) Barrett formerly of Breezy Hill, St. Johnsbury passed away
early Saturday morning, July 14, 2012 at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health
Center in Lyndon surrounded by her beloved family. She was 88.
Priscilla was born in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 16, 1923, the daughter of
George and Evelyn (Brooks) Wilkins. She was a graduate of St. Johnsbury
Academy. On Nov. 25, 1943 she married the love of her life, Roland J.
Barrett. Together they raised seven children in the home that they built on Breezy Hill.
Priscilla was a member of the Arlington Home Dem and was a Vermont
craftsman. Sewing was her passion and she spent many hours making
quilted handbags, aprons, dresses and items for home décor which she
displayed at craft fairs throughout Vermont and New Hampshire.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roland in 1991; her parents, three
brothers: Kenneth, Richard and his wife, Ann; Robert and his wife Elfredea;
her sister, Jane Donna and her husband, Roger; her beloved
daughter-in-law, Janette Barrett; two son-in-laws, David Taplin and Bill Parrigan; a great-grandson:
Jacob Daigneault; and brother in-law, Donald Robinson.
Priscilla is survived by her seven children: Patricia Parrigan of Louisville,
Ky.; Richard Barrett and wife, Denise of Waterford; Virginia Saavedra and
husband, Joseph of Thurmont, Md.; Jean Ashe and husband, Alan of
Essex Jct.; Kathleen Taplin of Derby; Ronald Barrett and wife, Mattie of
Lyndonville; and Judith Bourbeau and husband, Allen of Waterford. She
also leaves 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; her sister, Beverly
Robinson of St. Albans; her brother, Stanley Wilkins and his wife, Mary of
St. Johnsbury; a sister in-law, Georgette Wilkins of St. Johnsbury Center;
and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 17 from 5-8 p.m.
Services will be held in St. Johnsbury on Wednesday July 18 at the St.
John the Evangelist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jean MacDonald
officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury.
