Henrietta NY - Perry Henry Lowell Jr., 88, born December 13, 1929 in St. Johnsbury, VT was welcomed with the open arms of Jesus, into the fullness of love in Heaven, November 1,2018. He was received there with joy by his son, David, who they lost as a young boy; his parents, Perry and Eva; and brothers, Daniel (Mary), Robert, and Richard Lowell. Perry passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Perry is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Lowell, daughters, Diane (James) Fowler and Lisa (Charles) Piazza; grandchildren, Christina (Matthew) Burdick, David (Emilie) Fowler, Jacqueline Fowler, Cathrynne Fowler, Aaron Fowler, Michael Fowler, Eric (Britni) Tait, Jordan Tait and Ryan Tait; great-grandchildren, Luke, Maria, Jane, Edwin, Luana, Nevan, ChloƩ, and one forthcoming, next spring; sisters-in-law, Lorena Lowell and Joey Lowell; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Perry grew up as a country boy, in the small town of St. Johnsbury. Perry had a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye that deeply touched all he met. He was a humble man and a hard worker, who always exuded an inner peace, strength and faithfulness. As a boy, one of his favorite jobs was as caretaker of horses, which he worked on the farm, earning a meal and some pocket change. Perry had an unyielding patience and charismatic grace that shone, even in the most difficult of times, through the example he set for his family and through many ministerial roles he held over the years, including the Knights of Columbus and his service to Brentland Woods. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War and retired from the US Federal Government after 30 years, where he worked as a Branch Chief in Quality Control. Perry met Joan, the love of his life, at Brickett's Diner in St. Johnsbury; after six weeks of dating; they were married on August 11, 1956 and started their life together. They lived in many places over the years, including VT, CA, and NY, finally settling in 1987 in his favorite home in Henrietta, NY.
Perry's youthful spirit emanated from time with family and friends, sharing stories of his life journey and reminiscing about his childhood. He looked forward to visiting his roots every year at the annual "Old Home Day" celebration in East St. Johnsbury. He loved his family everyday with gentleness and humility and was always eager share a good joke and a laugh (he was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan). He was a craftsman who a passion for woodworking, creating various projects, including pinewood derby cars, with his children and grandchildren. Perry was an avid reader and enjoyed completing puzzles, playing cards, and teaching rhymes and limericks to his grandkids. His kind, tender heart and loving soul will be greatly missed.
Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation on Nov. 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 3325 Winton Road South, Rochester New York, 14623. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Nov. 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., St. Marianne Cope Parish at Good Shepherd, 3318 E. Henrietta Road, Henrietta, New York, 14467. He will be interred with their son at a later date. In memorial of Perry, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
