Pauline Urie of Passumpsic passed away at home, unexpectedly and
peacefully, Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the age of 78. She was born in
Springfield, Mass., on Nov. 11, 1931. Pauline was one of three children
born to Peter and Eva (Smith) Morrison. Her brother, Ray Morrison,
and sister, Barbara Butcher, both predeceased her. She was married
to Bernard Urie; he predeceased her May 11, 1993. Her
granddaughter Heidi died in 1989. Pauline graduated from St.
Johnsbury Academy in 1949. She looked forward to the 49-er's
monthly luncheon with her classmates. Pauline was a faithful
member of the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church; there she
was superintendent of the Sunday school and the summer vacation
Bible school. She was active in the Mason Sparrow ladies' group of
Passumpsic doing church suppers and bazaars. In the Passumpsic
community, she was instrumental in the operation of the Passumpsic
Cemetery, was a member of the Barnet Historical Society and
participated in Barnet fall foliage activities. Pauline was a teacher's
aide for grades one through four at the old Passumpsic School and in
McIndoe Falls.
