Patrycia M. "Rinny" Welcome , 77, of St. Johnsbury, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008,
at her residence. She was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Flushing,
Queens, N.Y., the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Walsh)
Boylan. She attended St. Johnsbury public schools and graduated
from St. Johnsbury Academy in the class of 1949. She continued her
education at Mary Mount College in Tarrytown, N.Y. On June 14, 1952,
she married Charles William Welcome in Huntington, Long
Island, N.Y. In her earlier years, she was employed as an office worker
for several New York businesses including: The Flushing Federal
Savings in Flushing, Cary's Maple Sugar in New York City, Dr. Schaffer
Optometrist in Lake Ronkonkoma and Smithtown High School in
Smithtown, Long Island. She and her family moved to St. Johnsbury
in the early 1970s where she was employed by the State of Vermont,
Department of Unemployment and French & Bean Company both in
St. Johnsbury. For several years, she owned Rinny's Boutique on
Railroad Street also in St. Johnsbury. She retired in the late 1980s.
Rinny enjoyed the time that she spent with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, knitting and Thrift Store shopping. Survivors
include her husband Charles W. Welcome of Tavares, Fla., and St.
Johnsbury; two daughters Charlene Welcome and Patrycia Smith,
both of St. Johnsbury; a daughter-in-law Nancy Welcome of
Hardwick; a sister Kathryn Yarn of Eustis, Fla.; six grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by a son Charles W. Welcome and a sister Ann Klug. To
honor her request, there will be no visiting hours. All services will be
scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions in her
