Mary A. (Nolan) Linehan , 79, of Pleasant Street, in St. Johnsbury,
passed away Thursday evening, May 1, 2008 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
Medical Center after a period of declining health. She was born in St.
Johnsbury on May 30, 1928, the daughter of John and Alice (Holbrook)
Nolan. Her husband, "Scampy" Daniel Linehan, predeceased her Aug. 24, 1998.
After graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy, Mary's first job
was at the Fairbanks Morse office where she and Scampy met. They
were married in 1947. She later worked at Hovey's Thrifty Shop. Mary
loved being a wife and mother. She and Scampy spent several happy
winters in Bushnell, Fla. She was especially proud of her paintings done
in her younger years. Recently, she knew her health was declining, and
she made sure she called all her friends whose friendships she
cherished. She was always very supportive of her children in whatever
they pursued throughout their lives. She is survived by her daughter,
Lisa Burrington and her husband Randy, of Danville; her son, Howard
Linehan, of St. Johnsbury; her twin sisters, Patricia Freehart and her
husband "Pin," of Orleans, and Gloria Charron, of Lyndonville; and all
her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5,
at 1 p.m., at the Sayles Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert H. Sargent will
officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from noon to the start
of the service. Because of Mary's love of animals, memorial
contributions may be directed to Kingdom Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 460,
St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
