Marion Conly Stanyon , lifelong St. Johnsbury, Vt., resident of Higgins Hill,
passed away at The Pines Saturday morning, Jan. 26, 2008, at the age of
82. She was the widow of Harold Stanyon Sr. She was born in St. Johnsbury
on Jan. 18, 1926, the next to the youngest of eight children born to John E.
and Edna (Armstrong) Conly. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Conly,
who died at the age of 6; brother Lt. George Conly, killed during World War
II; and brother J. Raymond Conly. Marion attended graded school at
Portland Street School and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class
of 1944. Most of her working career was spent at St. Johnsbury Glovers
where she was a floor supervisor. She later worked at Fairbanks. Marion
lived her entire life at the Conly family home on Higgins Hill where she
cared for both her father and mother in their later years. She enjoyed
summers at the family cottage on Miles Pond. She is survived by sisters
Dorothy (Mrs. William B.) Cutting of St. Johnsbury and Eleanor Gonyaw
and husband Curtis of Waterford; brothers Ralph Conly and wife Elsie of
Sunnyvale, Calif., and Donald Conly of Springville, Utah; Marion's stepson,
Harold Stanyon Jr. of Castleton; cousins, nieces, nephews and their
families, and friends. Graveside services will be held in the spring on
Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the St. Johnsbury Center Cemetery.
The Rev. John Marshall will officiate. Visiting hours will be held at the
Sayles Funeral Home Wednesday 2-4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be
