Margaret V. Noyes, widow of Arthur R. Noyes and formerly of
North Avenue in St. Johnsbury, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011,
at the age of 87. Margaret was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Feb. 10, 1924,
the daughter of Edward and Delia (Walsh) Platt. She served in the
U.S. Navy where she met her husband, Arthur, who was from
Maine. They were married March 12, 1949, and he predeceased
her in the year 2001. Before entering The Pines just a month ago,
she lived in the senior housing in Cabot for the past five years.
Margaret worked at St. Johnsbury Trucking until she retired in
1986. Previously she had worked at the old correctional center on
Cherry Street. She was handy doing needlepoint, knitting and crocheting for her family.
Margaret is survived by six of her seven children, Monica Noyes
of Lyndonville, Sandra Noyes of Cabot, Claudia Leibold and
husband Philip of Plainfield, Brenda Robertson of Lyndonville,
Dwight Noyes and wife Martha of Duxbury, Bradley Noyes and
wife Elaine of Concord; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
a sister Delia Dayton of Lexington, Md.
Besides her husband Arthur, she was predeceased by a son "Alby" Noyes,
a grandson Conrad Leibold, and a brother Joseph Platt.
Services will be held this Friday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at Third
Congregational Church in East St. Johnsbury. Mr. John Sleeper
will officiate at the service.
