Madeline "Sister" Rash Moulton of School Street in St. Johnsbury
passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 just 50 days
after losing her husband Charlie, the love of her life.
Madeline was born in St. Johnsbury on June 15, 1925, the
daughter of Floyd and Dora (Tripp) Rash. She married Charles
Moulton on April 18, 1946. She graduated from St. Johnsbury
Academy with the class of 1943 and enjoyed the regular
luncheons with her classmates. For several years she drove
her station wagon school bus down South Main Street
transporting many children to the St. Johnsbury schools. She
worked at the St. Johnsbury Academy for 18 years and taught in
the culinary arts program. Her most important job was as wife,
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she was one of
the best. Her home was always the center of her family activities
and she will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies
and whoopee-pie cakes. She liked to camp with the family at
Crystal Lake, Harvey's Lake and on the coast of Maine. She and
Charlie played bridge with their good friends Richard and Nancy
Bohlen and Norman and Marie Sleeper. They took the trip of a
lifetime with Leslie and Marjorie White to Scotland and England.
She is survived by two daughters: Dianne Rolfe and husband Tim
of St. Johnsbury, Joanne Bugbee and husband Michael of West
Danville; five grandchildren: Sean Rolfe and wife Danica, Dan
Rolfe, Travis Bugbee and wife Amanda, Derek Bugbee and wife
Andrea, Ethan Bugbee and wife Althea; eight great-grandchildren:
Sierra, Myles, Piper and Ruby Rolfe; Samuel, Andrew and Max
Bugbee; and Solomon Brown. She was predeceased by an infant
son Dean and her very dear sister Velma Dodge.
Graveside services will be held in St. Johnsbury this Friday, Oct.
18 at noon at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions
could be directed to either Make A Wish Foundation, 100 Dorset
St. Suite 14, Burlington VT 05403; or to Vermont Association
For the Blind, 38 Park Place, Brattleboro VT 05301.
