Lorraine Dodge of Waterford, and formerly of Green Street in St.
Johnsbury, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 11, 2010, at the
Greensboro Nursing Home where she had resided for the past two weeks.
She was born in St. Johnsbury on May 1, 1927, one of nine children born to
Leonard and Olive Root. Her marriage to Russell Lynaugh produced five
sons, including Dennis Lynaugh who passed away in 2009. She married
Walter Dodge Sept. 9, 1974. Lorraine was a great knitter and crocheter; all
the kids have afghans that she made them. She and Walter took trips to
Germany and parts of Canada. Evenings they were fond of taking nightly
jaunts out on the area roads. She is survived by her husband, Walter; four
sons, Donald Lynaugh of Milton, Dale Lynaugh and wife Elaine of
Peacham, Dwayne Lynaugh and wife Susan of North Danville, Danny
Lynaugh and wife Judy of Georgia; Walter's three children, Sylvia Dodge of
Lyndon, Sheila Taylor and husband Ted of Southampton N.Y., W. Nelson
Dodge of Lyndonville; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three
brothers, Leonard Root Jr. of St. Johnsbury, Robert Root and wife Joyce of
Waterford, Glen Root of Florida; two sisters, Betty O'Rourke and husband
Mickey of Marshfield, Gloria Randall and husband Neil of Bradford; nieces,
nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary
Pitkat, Barbara Randall and Joanne Hesseltine. This Sunday from 2 to 4
p.m., the family will receive friends at Sayles Funeral Home. Public
graveside services will Monday at 11 a.m. at Pope Cemetery in North
Danville with Jane Larrabee officiating. Memorial contributions, marked for
