Laurette Alma Fillion, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 17,
2012, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington,
following a short illness. She was born in St.
Johnsbury on Sept. 14, 1925, the daughter of the
late Allen and Marie (Fortier) Fillion. Laurette was a
graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in St.
Johnsbury. After graduation, she was employed at
John Hancock Insurance Company in St. Johnsbury. When the
local office was closed, she was transferred to Burlington in 1962.
She later retired in 1986, after 41 years of service as Assistant
Office Manger. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic
Church in Burlington. Laurette also enjoyed volunteering time at
St. Anthony's Church thrift shop. She is survived by her two
brothers, Leo Fillion of Burlington, and Joseph Fillion and Mary
Alice of Tampa, Fla.; and three nephews, Mark, Thomas and
Danny Fillion. Laurette was predeceased by her brother, Maurice
Fillion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic
Church in Burlington. Interment will be in Mount Calvary
Cemetery in St. Johnsbury. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from
4 to 6 p.m. in the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service, 261
Shelburne Road, in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
