Juliet A. (Gauthier) Potvin, 86, peacefully passed away on
Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Our Lady of The Meadows,
Richford, Vt. Juliet was born Oct. 31, 1930, in St Johnsbury,
Vt., the daughter of Alphonse and Bertha Gauthier. She
graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1948, and the Bishop
DeGoesbriand Hospital School of Nursing as an RN in 1951. She
began her nursing career at the Brightlook Hospital in St.
Johnsbury. It was there working that she began her great love
story, nursing her future husband, State Trooper Clement
Potvin, back to health, after a crash almost took his life. They
married in 1953, and had over 56 years together. During this
time, she raised four children and continued her career in
Nursing. In 1981, Julie and Clem bought the Moose River
Campground and ran it for 20 years until 2001. Julie enjoyed
her family, gardening and travel, especially her trips to
Alaska, and Florida. She is survived by her children, son Brian
and his wife Joni, of Reno, Nev., son Michael of Breckenridge,
Colo., daughter Cecilia of Windham, Maine, and daughter Kathie
and her husband Bill of Underhill, Vt.; seven grandchildren, and
eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother
Ronald Gauthier and wife Carolyn of Essex, Vt. Julie was
predeceased by her parents, brother Alphonse Jr., brother Paul,
sister Cecilia, husband Clement Potvin, and twins Deborah and Mary who were born prematurely.
There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held in
the chapel at the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, Vt., on
Friday, June 2, 2017, at 9 a.m. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers we wish to honor
our Mother by donating to the National MS Society, 75 Talcott
Rd. S. 40, Williston, VT 05495. Attn: Shanna McCabe. The
family in great appreciation would like to thank the staff at Our
Lady of the Meadows, Richford, Vt., for the wonderful support
and care they gave our mother these past 8 years.
