Jeanne B. McGinnis, 85, of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully
on February 23, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jeanne Beverly Rice in St. Johnsbury, VT, on June 23, 1930.
Her parents were Reynold D. and Marjorie C. (Moore)
Rice. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul R. Rice.
She leaves a sister, Jeanette C. (Rice) Renaud of Charleston, SC.
She married Ronald F. McGinnis of East St. Johnsbury, VT in 1950,
and for 54 years they were inseparable. They enjoyed
visiting family, socializing at the VFW and the American Legion,
and trips to Foxwoods Casino. They both loved baseball; Ronald
was a Yankees fan, and Jeanne an avid Mets fan. Ronald
predeceased her on June 7, 2004.
She was a loving Mother and Mother-In-Law to Deborah J.
(McGinnis) McLay of Keene, NH, Paul R. and Judy (Soule)
McGinnis of Oxford, CT, and Bryan D. and Deborah (O’Connor)
McGinnis of North Branford,CT. She was a beloved
Grandmother (Mimi) to Daniel and Alba (Hasa) McGinnis of
Seymour, CT, Courtney McGinnis and Priscilla Encarnacao of
Hamden,CT, Timothy and Shannon (Curran) McGinnis of
Woodbridge, CT , Katie McGinnis of Wolcott, CT, Cody and
Bailey McGinnis of North Branford, CT, and Ronald McLay of
Keene, NH. She loved and enjoyed her four great-
grandchildren, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Jack and Aubreigh
McGinnis. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and
other extended family, and many dear friends.
Although she worked at several companies over the years, she
always felt that her most important job was being the best
daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister, niece, cousin and aunt to her family, as well as a loyal
friend. At all of these she truly excelled.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 9, at 10:30
a.m., in Kings Highway Cemetery on Cherry St, in Milford, CT.
Per her wishes, no calling hours will be held.
