SPRINGFIELD - Janet M. Liberty, 85, a longtime resident of Springfield,
died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 20, 1930, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of
George R. and Doris Abbie (Wheaton) Moore. She received her
schooling in St. Johnsbury and graduated from St. Johnsbury
Academy in 1948. She later attended the Community College of
Vermont in Springfield. She married Henry N. Liberty in St. Johnsbury on
Nov. 11, 1951. Mrs. Liberty was employed at the Mental Health Services
of Southeast Vermont in Springfield for many years until her
retirement. She was an active member of the Ascutney Ward of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed
gardening, skiing and especially spending time with her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry N. Liberty in 1985;
and by her sister, Nancy Ann Moore, one hour and a half before her own passing.
Survivors include one son, Paul M. Liberty of Springfield; one
daughter, Susan L. Pinto of Williston; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015,
at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in
Ascutney. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Bishop Mark Ostrom, officiating.
A reception for family and friends will follow at the church.
Burial and dedication of the grave will be at 2:30 p.m. in
Passumpsic Cemetery in Waterford.
