On August 15, 2011, Helen Caron, 80, said goodbye to family and
friends. She had a full life of living, loving and laughter, and she
asks that everyone embrace each other in her memory and
without sorrow. She wishes all of her fellow bridge players a Grand Slam!
Helen is survived by three sons, Fred Schaefer, Jr. of Missoula,
MT, Mark Schaefer of Savannah, GA and Eric Schaefer of
Boston, MA, and by three stepchildren, Bob Caron of Holden, MA,
Donna Guillaume of Northbridge, MA and Sandy Winkler of North
Port, FL. Helen's son, Carl Schaefer, and her loving husband of 30 years, Bob Caron, predeceased her.
Helen was born in St. Johnsbury, VT as the sixth child of Thomas
and Flora Clothey. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy
and the Brooklyn Hospital School of Nursing (NY). She was
licensed as a registered nurse in NY, CT and MA. After working
as a nurse for 20 years, Helen worked another 20 years with the
MA Dept of Public Health, conducting certification inspections of health care facilities.
In 1992, Helen and Bob relocated from Shrewsbury, MA to Ocala,
FL where they spent their retirement years developing the North
Central Florida Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association,
of which Bob was a past Chairman and Helen was an honorary member.
There will be no service, and Helen's ashes will be buried
alongside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala.
