GADAPEE: Senior Master Sergeant Graydon H. Sr. , USAF (Ret.), 72, of 58 Pleasant St., Eliot, Maine, passed away Friday, April 4, 2003, at Portsmouth, N.H. Regional Hospital. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Aug. 10, 1930, the son of Harold and Eva (Hines) Gadapee. He was a graduate of St Johnsbury Vocational Technical Trade School, Class of 1949, and was a supporter of the St. Johnsbury Academy Alumni Association. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the 509th OMS (SAC) at Pease Air Force Base in 1972 with 21 years of service. He had been a resident of Eliot since 1971. After his retirement from the Air Force he operated Gadapee Lawn and Garden Equipment Repair Service and Coastland Dog Grooming for many years. He was an avid golfer and gardener, enjoyed fishing and had a great fondness of nature and animals. His strong interest in reading and history led him to do extensive research on his family genealogy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 273 in Madeira Beach, Fla., and a longtime supporter of the Air Force Enlisted Foundation. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joyceline (Garand) Gadapee; two sons, Dean Gadapee of Dover, N.H., and Graydon Gadapee Jr. of Eliot; two daughters, Bonnie Morris of South Berwick, Maine, and Deborah McClintock of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Robert Morris, Cara Gadapee, Sean Gadapee, and Rhonda McClintock; three brothers, Gordon Gadapee of Naples, Fla., Glendon Gadapee of East Haven,Vt., and Gary Gadapee of East Ryegate, Vt.; one sister, Edna Simons of St Johnsbury; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Erma Baker, Ellen Remick, and Ester Stevenson; and an infant brother, Donald. Graydon will be missed dearly by family and friends. We will treasure the good memories and he will always be in our hearts. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 12 Hurricane Lane, P.O. Box 485, Williston, VT 05495.
