Gracia Marcelle Letourneau of Danville passed away at
home Saturday, May 24, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 9, 1926, one of eight children born to Robert and Marie Antoinette
(Lavigne) Tetreault. She married Thomas Letourneau on the Fourth of July in 1947.
And so began the journey of 66 years with her husband and family. With her husband Tom, she raised
11 children in a loving and nurturing home. There was always room in her home and in her heart for many
others who came to stay for a week, a month or more. There are many folks out there who would fondly
call themselves her 12th child. With 11 children there was never a dull moment in
the household and she always found time for each and every one.
Gracia was a long time parishioner of Queen of Peace Church in Danville. Her
faith was a very important part of who she was and what she gave to her
family. She taught the First Communion class for many years and loved the
innocence of the children. Her faith was a journey in which she continually
strove to deepen her relationship with God through reading, study and prayer.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; 11 children: Donald Letourneau and wife
Helga, Lucille Adams and husband Terry, Joanne Fenoff and husband Steven,
Thomas Letourneau and wife Ramona, Paula Knights and husband Jonathan,
Debra Taylor and husband Donald, Paul Letourneau, Andrew Letourneau and
wife Anne Marie, Richard Letourneau and Dorene Priest, Marie Maddox, Marcia
Letourneau and Tom Lee; 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by six brothers and sisters: Jacqueline McNamara, Gilbert
Tetreault and wife Betty, John Tetreault and wife Barbara, Rejeanne Nardacci
and husband Nick, Patricia Belanger and husband Gerald, Jeanine Gould and
husband Armand; and sister-in-law Mary Tetreault.
She was predeceased by a grandson Nathan Letourneau, a son-in-law Tommy
Maddox, a brother Roger Tetreault, and a brother-in-law Richard McNamara.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this Thursday evening,
May 29, from 6-8 p.m. The evening rosary service will begin at 8 p.m.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in Danville this Friday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Burial will follow at the Danville Green
Cemetery with a light reception following back at the church.
Memorial contributions could be directed to either: The Good Shepherd School,
121 Maple St., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819; or marked for 'Hospice' to Caledonia
