Gloria Toussaint Carlton , a lifelong resident of St. Johnsbury,
died Saturday evening, Sept. 3, 2005, at St. Johnsbury Health &
Rehab Center. She was born on Aug. 18, 1926, the daughter of
Alcide and Laura (Brunelle) Toussaint. Gloria attended parochial
schools in St. Johnsbury and was a graduate of Mount Saint
Joseph Academy. Before her marriage she worked at the W.T.
Grant Co. On July 5, 1958, she married Jim Carlton of St.
Johnsbury. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her special interests were animals, birds and her flowers.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; her three children and three
grandchildren: Sally Kelley, her husband Michael, and their
children Colleen and Ryan, of Wilder, Vt., Eric Carlton and wife
Kathy of Hillsborough N.H., and her children Shelley, Jennifer,
Becky, and Katie and their families, Melissa Plasencia, husband
Douglas and their son Aaron of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Doug's
three children Megan, Zachary, and Luke; a sister, Jacqueline
Isabelle of Newport, Vt; nieces and nephews; dear friend of the
family Tracy Lamotte. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leo
and Norman Toussaint. A funeral Mass will be celebrated
Thursday afternoon at 2 at St. John the Evangelist Church in St.
Johnsbury. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visiting
hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home Wednesday
evening, 6-8 p.m. Contributions in Gloria's memory may be made
