George Stanley, 82, of Victory, Vt., passed away peacefully at
home on Jan. 8, 2014, surrounded by his family.
George was born in Victory. He went to the St. Johnsbury Trade
School. He worked at many places, including Moore Dam, St.
Lawrence Seaway in Massena, N.Y., Niagara power project in
Niagara Falls and Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona. He also worked
for Pizzagelli Construction at several locations including the U.S.
Virgin Islands. He also installed furnaces for Sears for several
years. He served in town office including selectman and road
commissioner. George enjoyed operating his family sawmill and
displaying one lunger engines.
George was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth
Stanley; and sisters Elizabeth Finn and Joann Stanley. He is
survived by his daughter, Katie Fitzpatrick; his brother, John
Stanley; sister, Ellen Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be held on May 17 at 10 a.m.
at the South Victory cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the
Moose Campground after the ceremony.
