Frances H. Aiken , age 79, a Lyndonville resident, passed away
Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the Union House Nursing Home
following a lengthy illness. The daughter of Homer C. and Fanny
(Church) Shattuck, she was born Dec. 29, 1926, in St. Johnsbury.
She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 1945, and
married Malcolm Wallace Aiken on May 20, 1977. She was a
member of South Congregational Church, Green Mountain
Grange #1, and former member of the Danville Women's Club.
She was a great crocheter and knitter and cook. Frances
especially enjoyed taking rides in the car with her husband.
Frances is survived by her husband, Malcolm of Lyndonville; two
daughters, Linda Chase and her companion Larry MacDougall of
Lyndonville and Becky Hedges and her companion Red of
Morgan; seven grandchildren, William Currier of Charlotte, N.C.,
Darlene Haugwitz and her husband Patrick of Newport; Sheryl
Darrington and her husband Allen of Bethlehem, N.H., Brenda
Miller and her husband Dean of Gilman; a special granddaughter,
Carol Jewett and her husband Arlene of Bethlehem, N.H., who
took care of her for three and a half years; Barbara Chase and
her companion Charlie Ridgway of Sheffield; Aaron Hedges of
Morgan; and 12 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be
Wednesday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at the Newport Center Cemetery in Newport.
