Everett "Ziggy" Ruggles , of Skyview Terrace in St. Johnsbury, Vt., loving
father, grandfather and brother, passed away at NVRH early Sunday, Feb.
10, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, after complications from his
kidney disease, nearly a year to the day since the passing of his dear wife
Joyce. He was born Aug. 26, 1927, in St. Johnsbury, the son of Duane and
Lura (Farnham) Ruggles. He attended the St. Johnsbury Trade School and
later served in the U.S. Navy. He then married Joyce Brown and was
happily married for 45 years. Throughout his life, he helped hundreds of
people while employed at Sears, Peck Hardware, Brink's, and most
recently, at St. Jay Hardware. Everyone appreciated Dad's sense of humor
and wit. Dad was a real trooper fighting his kidney disease, going to
dialysis three days a week. Not a day went by that he didn't ask about his
three children and eight grandchildren, making sure that they knew how
much he loved them. "You better believe it!" He is survived by his daughter,
Laurie Lanctot and son-in-law Jim of Thetford (P.O. Box 54, 05074) and
their children Holli, Garrett, and Gavin; his son, Troy Ruggles and
daughter-in-law Kelly of St. Johnsbury (40 Donna Dr., 05819) and their
children Andrew and Samantha; his daughter, Stacie Beliveau and
son-in-law Chris of Danville (477 Dole Hill Rd., 05828) and their children
Cole, Carlie, and Allie; his sister, Natalie Mann of Preston Md.,
brother-in-law Roger Brown and wife Sharron of Hartland, Vt.; three
sisters-in-law, Marti Earnheart of White River Junction, Vt., Lorraine
Brown of South Strafford, Vt., Sylvia "Soupi" Brown of South Strafford Vt.;
many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Daune
Borden and brother-in-law George Mann. Services will be held Thursday,
Feb. 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with the
pastor, the Rev. John Marshall officiating. Visiting hours will be held at the
Sayles Funeral Home Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Contributions, marked in Ziggy's
name for the expected new dialysis center, may be directed to
