ROBERTS: Ellen P. , 71, of Concord, Vt., died Wednesday, June 25, 2003,
at the Littleton Regional Hospital in Littleton, following a brief
illness. The daughter of Glenn G. and Eva (Page) Powers, she was
born Nov. 22, 1931, in Littleton. Ellen grew up in Waterford and
attended area schools, graduating with the St. Johnsbury Academy
Class of 1949. She spent many years in the Farmington, Bristol and
Southington, Conn. areas. She worked as a secretary for Sears
Roebuck & Co. and Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance, both in
Plainville, Conn. Ellen is survived by her husband, Merton A. Roberts
of Concord; 10 children and their spouses, Glenn and Kim Wark of
Plainfield, Conn., Donna and Michael Madonna of Bristol, Conn.,
Marsha and Ernest Lemelin of Bethlehem, N.H., Elaine Teal of Beverly,
Mass., David and Cheryl Roberts of Saugus, Mass., Steven and Judy
Roberts of Newton, N.H., Timothy and Olivia Roberts of West
Boylston, Mass., Dana and Kathy Roberts of Bolton, Mass., Mark and
Bonnie Roberts of Londonderry, N.H., Carrie and Alan Turner of
Saugus, Mass.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four
brothers and sisters, Geneva Wright, Russell Powers, Willard Powers
and Audrie Wright, all of Waterford; and two beloved cats, Buddy and
Birdie. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Madonna; a
sister, Theresa Roberts; and a brother, Leland Roberts. Calling hours
will be Friday evening, June 27 from 6-9 p.m. at the Union Baptist
Church, 932 U.S. Route 5 in Waterford. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, June 28 at 1 p.m., also at the Union Baptist Church, with
Pastor Paul Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside
Cemetery in Waterford. Memorial contributions may be directed in
Ellen's name to the Union Baptist Christian School at 932 U.S. Route 5, Waterford, VT 05819.
